What are you going to do about the CEL?
From what I've read a 10K resistor takes care of that. A few people have done the 98+ OBD2 manual swap in 300's, but no one whose actually done the swap has confirmed that..
Keep me posted so I can follow your footsteps with my '99

I killed all the CEL's on my MR2 I swapped a 1MZ-FE into out of a '96 Avalon. Resistors killed all of the solenoid and torque converter CEL's, but there was one I had to build a pulse generator for. That was the drum/turbine speed sensor... kinda hard to fool that with a resistor obviously. It was a frustrating CEL to kill because it would only come in specific test situations. Don't have the newer SC400 service manuals in front of me, but I'm guessing it'll be a similar deal to my experience.

In the end I got tired of all the OBDII horse**** and put a stand-alone on the motor (MegaSquirt). That '96 1MZ was a non-VVTi motor though, so things were much simpler in that department.
