Default 3 Way Components Speakers?

I will be upgrading my stereo very soon and will be doing 6.5'' components. Has anyone installed 3 way in their fronts? The speakers I'm looking at are

6.5'' woofer 1.5'' midrange and .75'' tweeter. Where did you guys mount the mid?

I would say place it above the front speaker grille in the upper section of the door panel. Maybe above the armrest but near the front grill cover. I havent never seen one seperate like that on here. We usually do the coaxial thing or seperate with just the tweeter and midbass in the door. Glue or ziptie the crossover inside the door somewhere.

you could modify the tweeter covers to fit the 1.5 and .75 combo

I have never used that set, but I know a thing or 2 about 3-way comp sets. If the midrange is removable it is not much large the a 1" dome tweeter which can be made to fit the stock tweeter location pretty easily.

easy way:

So would mount the midrange there in the stock location and the little tweeter in the a-pillar, that is the easy way.

Now for the way I would do it if I had that set. It is simply opposite of the above. Since above 4khz or so sound if more about intensity then location or angles. Mount the tweeter in the stock location. This will help widen your sound-stage (meaning make the music sound like it is coming for the end boundaries of the car and sometimes, past the boundaries of the car)

Now the mid-range is not very large so I would mount it in the A-Pillars. Should be able to do it without very much work or mods. Getting the midrange a little more forward above/on the dash will help bring the music above the dash, as it should be. with better sound staging and imaging, The level of clarity moving from a door mount coax only would be well............... WOW.

awesome, I'm looking for the best sound and modifying anything shouldnt be too hard. So are you saying mount the midrange above the tweeter? You don't think thatll offset the balance vs. traditional woofer, mid and then tweet?

the midrange in the A-pillars it will be a little above the tweeter but very close to it. Like this, but your drivers are much smaller and you will not need those extreme angles:

OR

OR

Looking at the pods, it looks small enough to mold the entire pod into the A-pillars like the second photo without to much work and it sticking out very much at all and if you take your time it can be made to look really stock. Now that would be great. If I lived near you I would be glad to help.

I like that idea, and yeah I was looking at the a pillars today and they seem plenty wide to not need anything fancy.

SQ400: I'm in Poway, CA and would appreciate help, I still need to order the speakers once they are in stock and then I will be mapping out exactly what to do, hopefully I am able to get the 3ways if not then installation will be more simple. Would I have to aim the pods and fiberglass etc? Or could I just hole saw the a pillars to mount the mid?
