That uzz30 Soarer is much slower than the US spec because it weighs alot more with it's active suspension among other options that were available to them.

The legend is the lightest.

I'm surprised the V12 850i was so slow even though it had the highest HP out of all of them.

All because of some guy at Toyota made a lame marketing decision.
That would have been lovely, wonder what they would have called the 2.5T though SC250 just doesn't sound good lol then again there's the IS250 now so who knows.

Makes sense now - I didn't watch the beginning before but it's obviously a UZZ32 active so the times seem about right.

***** - My best guess as to why we never got EMV is that the US market didn't demand such features at the time, therefore the cost of translating the interface and making it compatible with our frequencies didn't justify Toyota putting the system in the early USDM Lexus models. Plus, we probably would lose out on the navigation feature because who knows if the infrastructure or digital road maps were available for consumer use at the time here in North America.

I didnt start seeing gps or navigation systems offered in cars here until much much later on.

and yes the 4.0gts had navigation as well as a rear camera..definitely way ahead of us in terms of technology.
Im not convinced that he was smashing the gas as good as he could of, im sticking with driver error on this forsure.

Yes the biggest surprise out of all of this was the bmw 850.

That car is the most expensive by far and should of walked all over all of them including the 2.5tt.

I'm also surprised about the 850.... My father had one when I was a youngin. All things considered it wasnt that fast, and had some pretty epic reliability issues. But in the right hands they were high 14/low 15 second cars. My dad's a BMW man, and that was one of my favorites he had.

That video seriously makes me question how the SC400/4.0GT ever got off the drawing board. Have any of you ever driven a Legend? Wrong wheel drive but they did pull decently.

when i was younger i was actually a fan of the legend but still ---every legend i see on the road from now on is getting challenged.

That was an awesome video! It was cool seeing these cars in action. Along, with the Soarer, the Legend and 8 series BMW were some of the baddest coupes of the 90's, if not of all time. I'd give anything for a mint condition 850CSI..

The 4.0 GT was a huge disappointment. I know the original 91-94 1UZ's were slow, but that is just terrible. After watching that, I feel that my SC300 could kill it. It's also weird because my friend's 95 LS400 is surprisingly quick compared to my SC. The 1JZ Soarer was no joke either. Those engines are pretty quick bone stock.

I wish it was possible to get an SC/Soarer brand new still.

I'm not surprised that the 4.0 lost to the legend. It is a lot lighter than the 4.0 and that's where the power to weight ratio comes to play. I wonder what the outcome would've been if the legend was the 6-speed version.
