Default Tranny cooler question

Hey guys, i just picked up another sc400, it's a 95 red ext black int, and this thing is MINT!!
I am the third owner so i definitely wanna keep this thing goin strong, have records from when the car had like 100 miles or something.

Anyway i plan on getting a tranny cooler, after the stock one, and was wondering what the best one to get would be. I was thinking B&M just cause i haven't really heard complaints from them. This is my second auto car ever so i want to protect it. Going to change the fluid this evening after work.

Any input is appreciated.
Thanks!!!

no, you should disconnect the stock cooler and only run the aftermarket one. 2 reasons for this. first it gives you extra protection. sometimes the stock cooler which is just a metal tube in the radiator rusts and when that happens coolant enters your transmission fluid. second when the torque convert causes little friction the stock "cooler" is actually adding heat.

Well i'm definitely going to run a cooler, no doubt about that. That is a good point about the rust, but i would only think that would happen if your coolant wasn't mixed right? I suppose better safe than sorry.
Like i said, this is only my second auto in 3 months, all my other cars have been manuals. So im going off info from here and google..lol.
Thanks!

Just run an aftermarket one. I don't really know that one is better than another, but I would go with B&M. My friend has one on his RX300 and loves it. I too am thinking about doing an aftermarket cooler, just not sure when I want to do it haha.

Also, improperly mixed coolant would not be the only thing to cause it to rust. There are many factors with coolant. Big issue with Lexus's in general is people using green coolant and not Toyota red. If you aren't running Toyota red, I suggest you switch now. Haha.

Yeah when i got the car 3 days ago the heat was blowin cold, come to find out coolant was low. So i filled it up with green but tomorrow im going to completely flush the system and run the yota red cuz i have read all about the green stuff. Ima order the cooler tonight, it's not expensive and definitely wouldnt hurt anything..especially with Houston weather here in TX lol.
