You could unplug the knock sensors and see what happens...

Yea, I just couldn't get it to start yesterday.... and when it did, it ran like *****.

I'm gunna try to get it to run right and then pull the knock sensors out the block and keep them plugged in and taped to the harness so they can't detect knock and see what happens

Glad to see you decided to keep at it I saw your FS ad and was bummed that you got so fed up with it. The answer is out there, it will just take some work to sort it out.

Yea, it's just so frustrating walking outside every day and seeing my car and not being able to drive it... it sucks, it's been over a year and I've started multiple threads and no one has ever quite figured it out.

Well, to be fair, without removing the map ecu from the mix, it is hard to rule it out as an issue. I still suspect it, but I wonder if you have had a chance to address that questionable ground?

I'm going to rip the entire engine harness out of the car and inspect it... I've looked at most of it, but not all. Hopefully there are wires melted togeather haha

Have you checked the injectors for key on 12v on both pins? Also, check the resistor pack for proper resistance.

Very good idea! I think that's something that needs to be done, I realized today that the only thing i havent really checked was the injectors and mk4 resistors...

how would i go about doing testing those with my multimeter?

ok so after pulling my harness apart and inspecting it, I noticed most of the very important connectors were very brittle and covered in oil....

I noticed that my connector for the coolant temp sensor was covered in grease and oil and where the wire meets the connector, wire on both sides were exposed and it looked like on one side, only 25% of the copper was making contact with the connector, the rest of the copper wires inside the one little wire were broken off... I wonder if this could be my problem....

So i researched symptoms of a bad coolant temperature sensor and BAM, it described all of my problems.

So tomorrow I'm going to go to the toyota dealership and buy a bunch of connectors, I'm going to replace any questionable connector and go from there..

I'm hoping what happened was that the bad connection to the coolant temp sensor was causing all of this....

Hey, what exhaust you got on it? Factory, or newer? These symptoms sounds just like a clogged exhaust not allowing the fumes to exit and just backing up the engine, causing it to stall. Hope you have luck with the connectors, but if not, give it a check.

Still waiting on my connectors, but that is a really good idea, maybe from all the tuning and running rich it clogged my mufflers?

I have full stainless 3" split to two 2.5" with two canister style mufflers, not fart can style.... so maybe?

No way. Clogging or melting a cat maybe, but not a muffler.

from what ive heard it is not uncommon for a cat to be melted when your car is not running right.

The best way to tell is with an infrared temp gauge-----check the heat of the cats after the car has been running a while see if u notice anything fishy.
