6262 billet, or hybrid twins for 450whp?

6262 billet, or hybrid twins for 450whp?
Ok, the stock twins are starting to die on me, so it is decision time. Right now I am poor, and sadly, I will be for at least the next 2 years. I think I can scrape up between $1500-$1700 if I am creative, but that's about it.
I have an ultimate goal of 450whp, and dont see myself going for more than that unless there are some advances made in clutch tech in the next few years.
Anywho, since I obviously can't afford fmic, fuel, and engine management right now, whatever I do will have to be run at low boost so my stock crap can keep up.
With my future goals and current budget in mind, what should I do? I can piece together a 6262 billet setup and keep it in budget I think. Or, I can get hybrid jdm twins, bolt them up, and go. My worries are whether I can run a 6262 at low boost levels without it surging. I also wonder how the hybrids will spool compared to stockers.
Or maybe I should just give up and sell the car since I can't give it all the love it deserves right now. What do you guys think?

Id say go with the billet and finish up the setup when you have the money. The twins are a pain to get off with the motor in the car and the 6262 will be able to handle more power if you plan on going over 450. Im planning to go with the billet whenever i have the funds.

Any input on how a 6262 will behave at low boost levels? I would guess 10-12 psi will be close to maxing the stock injectors. I also wonder how lean the car will be anyway considering the map based ecu. 10psi on a billet will probably run it lean based on stock maps.

I think supra forums is your best bet to figure out which route to take. Most of the CL guys here dont really boost their cars. I was looking and found 6265 build with a quick spool valve but nothing about the 6262 itself. Theres another guy that went with stu's twin turbo kit in seq. mode and had problems with boost.

A 6262 should spool good on a gte, I dont think you will be missing the stock twins very much and will kick very nicely at and above 10 psi. I have never driven stock twins but I would go single turbo and then you will be finished. If you get new twins you may be regretting not going single after you upgrade all those other stock parts.
this guy says a 6262 runs like the stock twins.

Hybrid turbos from STU are not worth the $$$ to power ratio... go single. The hybrids have horrible sequential boost drop due to the upgrade turbos. I debated this for a while and now deceided to go single.

might be a good idea to spend the money on fuel, cams, engine management and max out the twins.
than save your money and get a turbo.
because if you get a turbo first you are still limited by your fuel. stock injectors max out at about 340 at the flywheel!
here's a little tool i used to figure that out.

stock inj: 380cc

^ stock inj are 380cc? I thought they were 440 on JDM and 550 on USDM GTE motors.
OP,
TTC will always lag more than a good small single.
If you are looking for 450whp... 550cc will get you there without maxing the duty cycle of the injectors. Stock ECU with cheap piggyback MAP ECU should be fine as well. If your ballar AEM..
I plan to run.. a small single + hks cams + AEM on stock 550cc and TT fuel pump. looking at 450whp myself as well.
