Speaking of driving to get an SC, I FLEW from VANCOUVER to PHOENIX to LOOK at an unseen car. Luckily the guy wasnt bs'ing me and I bought it and drove it back
So I dont think 4 hours each way (or even 1 day total) is a big deal at all..

Talk about dedication! How long did it take you to drive back home?

personally i think it is overpriced and i wouldnt pay that.

200 000 miles on the body?

Who knows how much on that swapped motor?

Was the tranny swapped also?

To be honest i wouldnt touch this car with a ten foot pole.

In my opinion buy the car stock or dont buy it at all.

A few tasteful mods might be okay but not this.

good luck either way.

Two and a half awesome days. Nothing better than driving through the desert in your new dream car with nothing but highway in front of you!

The car books at almost $7500 even with 200k miles, possibly more depending on the options. I don't know if you're financing or paying cash, the car I bought booked for $6500 and I payed $4200. I'm using the extra for some improvements and maintenance, If you can do a car payment on $7500 you could have some room to deal with unforeseen issues. I'd go look at and if its good offer him $4500 and go from there.

I bluebooked it in my area and it was around 4-5k from a private seller. I'll have to check it again. I already talked him down from 6500 to 5800, i don't think he's gonna budge much more. I will be paying cash.

The thing that gets me is the miles. 200+ is a lot and there is no telling how many miles are really on the swap. Another thing is value, if I ever sell it, I doubt there would be much value left on it. Swaps and mods dont matter when the car has a million miles on it.

Use the NADA, its what banks use. Mileage on the body isn't a huge deal, it doesn't do much but go along for the ride. The mileage of the engine/transmission is far more important. In my state, if you replace the engine in a car with an engine with documented mileage you can reset the odometer to the mileage of the engine, thats what the state thinks of body miles.

As far as resale, if you want high resale buy stock and keep it that way. Mods like the 1jz swap kill the car for someone who isn't in the SC scene. If you love the car and never see yourself selling it the swap won't matter.

Are you guys serious? If there's nothing wrong, except the paint on the roof, then it's an awesome buy. Damn if your not going to pick it up, let me know where it is and I'll drive half a day to pick it up. This is a 97 1jz with a god damn r154. The next best thing is a 2jz with a v160 and I'd be damn if you can find half a decent one for under ten grand.

Sorry about the rant but I feel like the market for sc300's have gone to crap. Granted it's going to have a lot of miles, since it's an old car, but if it drives like a Lexus than it should still have some value. I'm just having a hard time selling my clean stock 97 for what I believe is a fair price.

Fatbrian, actually nada has it priced at 7350 even with that many miles. But honestly, who in their right mind would buy a stock 97 sc with 200k for that much? That seems a little too optimistic to me.

David, I hear you. Its damn close to a perfect set up for a decent price. The swap is all stock too so it probably not been abused too much

Do it. Its a good deal. Car looks clean. Swap looks clean from the pics. Miles dont mean anything on the body as long as there is no rust or hasnt been in any accidents. I say do it!!

Since the NADA makes you enter your zip the prices vary somewhat depending on where you live, I entered my zip and since I live close to a fairly big city it tends to drive prices up to some degree.
