Are you guys serious? If there's nothing wrong, except the paint on the roof, then it's an awesome buy. Damn if your not going to pick it up, let me know where it is and I'll drive half a day to pick it up. This is a 97 1jz with a god damn r154. The next best thing is a 2jz with a v160 and I'd be damn if you can find half a decent one for under ten grand.
Sorry about the rant but I feel like the market for sc300's have gone to crap. Granted it's going to have a lot of miles, since it's an old car, but if it drives like a Lexus than it should still have some value. I'm just having a hard time selling my clean stock 97 for what I believe is a fair price.

you have to "trust" the owners word that there is 90 000 miles on the engine and "trust" him that it was installed and treated properly.
Again I wouldnt touch it. just my opinion of course.
good luck either way i hope it works out for the best

Looks clean but the drive and the possibility of it not being what is advertise would scare me away. The best and easiest way to identify if it is a R154 is to jack it up and take a look at the bell housing. If it has the clutch inspection plates on the bellhousing than its a R154 if not then its a W58.

Bring him down in price. Are you not willing to take a 5spd and make it how you want it to drive. If your going single t, ur gonna need a new clutch ifs its w58 or r154, they'll both be able to handles ur expectation. Its the price that has be caution of your time.

I say go take a drive out there and take a look in person. Look for every bad thing you can think of.
And talk to the owner. Profile him out: Why is he getting rid of it? Is this his only car? Was it a project car or was it supposed to be a daily while he worked on something else? Is he cheap? ****? An ADD type? Where does he live?
People's personalities show thru their cars. If they don't match up - you have a big red flag.

and to me the first red flag is that this person went with en engine swap.
says alot aboput his plans for the car and the treatment it may have had.
its possible he had a turbo on their and took it off to sell the car.
you could be buying someones used and abused toy.
I would walk into this deal very wearily and the first thing that doesnt seem right get out of it.
