Default New Motor and Trans Mounts..Cures what ails you

In an attempt to cure some vibrations, clunks, and other odd driveline sounds, I bit the bullet and replaced both motor and trans mounts. Man what a difference! If you have been debating this fix, or living with slowly deteriorating mounts, I say go for the replacement.

My SC400 has 146k on the clock and this change cured all ills and turned back the hands of time. It is amazing how smooth she idles and shifts. Likely a million threads saying do this, but I will bring it up again for folks like me new to CL.

How can a 13 year old car with 146k on the clock be so cool?

I did the same but the hasn't ran yet, still trying to get it together. But, I had the misterious clunk and pulling to one side and never figured it out.
When I pulled my motor out, both front mounts were cracked and broken into two pieces. Can't wait to get the car running so I can test it out.

Getting new motor mounts is on top of my list, I missed the days when I could not feel my car when it was turned on!

Yup, this has been on the top of my list as well.
Xcept now I'm debating whether or not I should get polyuithane mounts? Anyone have experience with them? Do you get noise and vibrations with them?

I went with OEM mounts and am very satisfied. Idle is amazing, you can hardly tell the engine is turning over. Not a cheap fix, but one you notice everytime you drive the car. Glad I did this early as I just bought my 98 SC400.

Mine seems pretty smooth. But I might knock this out too. What did the mounts and labor set you back?

$550 parts and labor for all three mounts. Had the work done by a very competent Indy Lexus Tech. He says it is slow, careful work as you replace mounts one at a time. I can do some basic work on the car, but this seemed beyond time and experiience I had. Likley way cheaper if you DIY.

Motor Mounts and tranny mount definitely help but don't forget that control arm bushings help with the smooth ride also.
