You can do it yourself. You just have to jump in there. Along the way you will learn a ton about that car and pretty soon you can work on it in your sleep. Just take apart slowly. Pay attention to where everything goes and tale lots of pictures for reference.

my mechanic just got back to me, said he can do timing belt crank seal and cam seals for $450. are the cam seals and valve cover gaskets the same thing? thats a damn good price if it is. i can wait on the power steering hose.

No, the cam seals go around the cams, the valve cover gasket goes around the valve covers. Is he changing the water pump also? May as well have him change the front main seal while he is in there also.

cost included front seals. valve cover gaskets are $278 more. sheesh. ill wait on those. for $500, ill make sure this engine goes to 300K no problems.
