Default Is this a worthy buy?

http://miami.craigslist.org/brw/ctd/2153660691.html

Has 162,000 miles on it, but it looks like it's in good condition. I'll be heading down there on Wednesday to check it out.

Should I go for it?

It looks clean and they're asking right at book for it. Make sure the antenna works, it should go down further than that. If you can get the vin register at this site https://secure.drivers.lexus.com/lexusdrivers/home and enter the vin to view the service history. If it hasn't had a timing belt in its 162,000 miles plan on one asap.

i think the price is too high

offer him no more than $3000 especially if the timing has not been done, if there is no proof of it u have to assume it hasnt been done along with the plugs and wires.

my opinion is wait for one with lower mileage ---they are still out there

I had my 97 pearl white listed for 4800 and it was almost as clean as this car. I had all maintenance up to date too so an offer of 3000 is not bad. I wouldn't pay anymore than that though.

What other things were changed, there were a few pages of results there. It looks like the car has been semi retired since about 2002, its only had about 33k miles put on it since then. That being the case check the hoses and rubber parts, sitting for long periods is almost harder on them than being daily driven. With that mileage the front end and steering bushings should be checked. Don't be afraid to lowball them, the market for these cars has dropped significantly in the past year or two.

When you go on lexus drivers on the left is a tab called service, click on it and the first link will be service history. I found some cool stuff about my car.

Could be me, or just a wierd reflection, but I would ask them if either of the rear quarters have had any body/paint work.

That said, at $3k we all might be willing to forgive some slight cosmetic damage.

Good luck and keep us posted.

Yeah, the right quarter behind the wheel looks a little strange. I can't tell if its dented or photographed at an odd angle.

If you can get them down to about 3k thats not a deal breaker but book on the car is $4075 and with that damage and a possibly bad antenna motor if they won't budge you might want to look elsewhere.

It looks very clean minus the steering wheel being bad like most of our cars get, the wood on the passenger side looks all faded, and the back panel on the drivers seat looks "not attached" right. But its not a bad price, try to knock him down to at least 3500.
