Default Rear end Damage on SC. Debating what I should do.Pics included.

Got rear ended while exiting the freeway at a stoplight. Insurance gave me about $2700 for repairs. My options so far:
1. Sell it as is and use that money plus insurance to find a better car but what kind? I'd want either an EVO, a 350z or another SC but manual. I'm open to other cars but most likely as long as I can work on it and it's not an American made car. No offense.

2. Just get it fixed and try to get it done for a less but good quality price and come up on some munnies

Here are some pics. Let me know what you think. Thanks!

Both tail lights still work, although the one shown above is obviously gonna need to be replaced. The frame behind the bumper is bent, the trunk is bent and needs to be replaced as well.

well tough call.

I think the smart thing to do is this-------you can source out a trunk and bumper for quite cheap im sure---as well as a tail light--although if it still works u can probably get away with leaving it for a while until u see a deal.

Source out the parts for cheap and just pay to get the frame straightened out, you can install the bumper and trunk yourself im sure and save quite a bit of money this way.

You could find a body shop to paint the trunk and bumper for next to nothing im sure---especially if you can do the prep work yourself.

Than you could sell your current sc and put the money from the insurance u have left on top of it for something nicer if thats what u want.

good luck either way and sorry to see the damage---been alot of this lately

Id get it fixed. It doesnt look that bad. At least it didnt get into the quarter panel. I bet you can find a shop to get it done for less than the 2700. Is that a 3/400 & year. That has black interior too right.

hmm that sounds good actually. I'll need a new bumper, trunk, and tail light. Probably gonna stop by my local junkyard then.

Here is your rear bumper and extensions in Washington state, I believe there are some 97+ tail lights in the classified section also.

If you need a new quarter panel then 2700 is not enough. I got backed in to on my pass side quarter and it was 3400 to fix. I didn't even have any bumper or tail light damage.

alright I'll take more pics of the quarter panels after I get off work today. Really hoping all I have to do is slap on a bumper, bend back the rear frame, get a trunk and paint them then call it a day.

And never, never say you are going to give up any Toyota for *any Mitsubishi.

Mine looks the same as yours. No biggie.

Pull a little metal around, bolt up some plastic you'll be all set.

insurance ripped you off if they only gave you $2700 for that much damage.

from experience, i can tell you that it will cost upwards of $6000 to repair that car properly. take your car to a body shop and have them fix it and file a supplement to the insurance company to cover the remainder. $2700 is not even close.
