Pretty much have to disassemble at least to where the countershaft comes out. The countershaft will hit the input and prevent it from coming out all the way from looking at it. Some transmissions actually have a crescent shaped recess machined out of the input to allow them to come out, but these don't

to get the counter off you have to remove like 3/4ths of the trans.. i found a local guy who will do it for 200.. i decided its better to do that and throw some marlin crawler parts in there and just wait a little bit longer to get a better trans. oh well. i hate waiting

question:
should i keep my trans and get a new shaft and get it rebuilt with marlin crawler parts or should i submit a claim on it and get my money back in like.. 3 months?

I would keep it and rebuilt it if needed. I wouldn't put an unknown mileage and condition tranny in and expect it to last. You don't know what kind of abuse it went through.
stockhatch is correct...you do need to pull out your counter shaft to take out your input shaft. At this point you might as well replace mc bearing retainer and if you have access to a press then replace the thrust washer as well. I just did this upgrade and its not as hard as you think but its time consuming tho. If you do decide to take it apart and need some help then just hit me up. I took a lot of pictures since it was the first time I took it apart and don't really know much about it.

tru. its also missing the crossmember. problem is that when it was dropped and idk if anything else was damaged. which sketches me out, im going to file a claim and get my money back. i already found another trans anyhow. fedex said itll take 7-10 days to get payment
