The mechanics just called me back and he said it's gonna cost $7700... and that's not even an option for me now I guess...

personally, i think youre SOL on getting any money out of the seller.
This is something I always tell people when buying a used car.

It is so much better to find out the problems before you buy the car rather than after.

$80.00-$150.00 now as opposed to hundreds or thousands later on.

I am really sorry youve learned this lesson so harshly---but dont be discouraged --people here can help point you in the right direction on purchasing a new engine---

Unfotunately I dont think small claims court can or will do anything for you---its a buyers beware market when it comes to used cars.

The first flag should of been that his "friend" was selling it for him.

And in the future dont buy a car with any engine or tranny work done to it--------find a good clean stock car---and be sure to keep an eye on who the seller is-----did u buy from his house or some parking lot? Does he have paperwork to back things up? Does he seem the type to take care of the car?

Anyways man im sorry but im sure it will work out----maybe even for the better----good luck

lol $7700 for a rebuild?

You can buy the whole engine for like $500.00-----you can buy the 1uz's with extremely low mileage --30 000 or so for like $500.00 also.

Good luck man

If u want an easier way out, just sell the car and take it as a lost. Just be a lesson learned.

haha this mechanic of yours is a joke lol, come on $7700 what is he smoking?

You can get it done cheaper if you shop around , i wish you were local i would help you it's a one day job start to finish.
$1000-1500 max for labor and you buy your parts.

Having swaps in Nazifornia may be a PITA but if you don't drive like an idiot, it isn't that bad.

Either way, I'd definitely find a good GE and swap it in, $7k for a rebuild?

yes sounds like the mechanic doesnt want to takew on this job--so he throws out a huge number and see if it works.

Drop him and try to find another mechanic-----somone here can probably point you to their own mechanic or better yet maybe someone here can help you firsthand.

1WILLY1, Nazifornia is pretty damn strict about modded cars. Smog is always issue but not that bad as long as you "know" someone. I have a few friends that have swapped cars and honestly its not that bad as long as you drive responsibly.

Tabaka, can't wait for it too haha!
