MAPECU(1) vs SAFC: Timing and fuel
I think I heard someone say that the MAPECU (1) can control fuel without affecting timing. Is that true? Does the MAPECU wire directly to the injectors or ignition? I was under the impression that it just modified MAP signal like a SAFC.
Now the MAPECU 2 from what I gather is a different story. Wiring directly to the ignition, even if it spoofs map to change fueling, it can fix the resulting timing changes by directly controlling ignition.
Right?

I've had the mapecu 1 and 2...
on mapecu 1, I had to retard the timing 2 degrees throughout the board on the motor by clocking the dizzy, and that's what I was stuck with.
mapecu 2 on the other hand does wire in to your ignition to be able to control timing. that's the only differance of wiring between the two, the mapecu2 just adds one more wire to splice into your ignition wire.
with mapecu2 i set my motor back to stock 10*btdc and fully control my timing via the mapecu2.
and yes, It just sends a modified signal to the stock ecu.
