Unhappy Help! Need advise on short shifter!

Wassup guys!
I need some serious help. I'm doing a 5speed tranny swap on my sc400. The transmission I have is from a 1993 sc300 manual. According to my knowledge I was told this is the w58 transmission which is the same ones on the mk4 supras and the is300s. But you can correct me if I'm wrong. Anyways, everything is complete I just need to install the actual shifter. I ordered a 5speed short shifter for a mk4 supra from DNA but the mechanic says it doesnt fit. I tried ordeing another one on ebay which is advertise only for a 5speed MK4 supra and that doesnt fit either. Is there any short shifter that will fit this tranny besides the OEM one??

Thanks for all the assistance everyone! The N/A MK4's did come with the w58 5speed tranny indeed! But im wondering if the actual area where the shifter is installed differs from that of the sc300 w58 tranny?

the w58's are different, you need a short shifter for a NA MK3 Supra...

around 1995 the W58 SC300 shifters changed and are like the NA MK4's..

if you have a 93 W58 from a SC a shifter made for a 93.5+ NA supra, or 95+ SC300 will not work.

they are definetly harder to find though..

From what I've found on here, IIRC if it's[the w58] '96 & up from the MKIV it will fit the SC '95 & up.

sorry to take the thread off subject, but I heard that the w58 can't handle the power and torque of the 1uz and will eventually break.. I don't want yo see this happen to you, and I also want to do a manual set up in my sc4 but for reliability I'll be going towards the r154

Lol, I learned the hard way that you can't remove the shifter on a 95+ w58....... What were they thinking? I can't even change the damn bushings!!!

Man I had no idea they differ from certain years. I actually did the research as we speak & went on a lexus dealer part site and notice the 96 and up SCs w58 does have a different shifter housing all together. Thanks for this tip! Will be looking for the N/A MK3 Supra shifter now

Yes indeed! But the tranny I have is from a 93' sc300, 5speed.

Really!? I sure hope it can cause I actually bought a 93' w58. I know "RedPheonix" says he didnt have that issue with his sc400, 1uz w58 conversion. But than again we all learn from experience

I dont know why they would make this change. It makes it difficult for new lexus enthusiast like myself to find the correct parts at time without doing some serious researching..lol

Is this true? If so Im going to purchase one. I thought I read somewhere even the NA MK3 short shifter wouldn't work.

There are two types of shifters depending on what year W58

Type A Pre-95
http://t3.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:A...YFEuDTCrZ0Eigs

Type B 95+
http://t0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:A...QQOCwLvMLTusaA

The pre-95 short shifters are hard to come by, well decent ones at least, don't buy the mookeh brand or what ever its called on ebay. I read a lot of bad reviews from the supraforum guys about it. Your best bets would be the beech performance one off driftmotion or find a really rare C's short shifter for a r154 also check out the V3 short shifter.

I'm going to buy this one...
http://www.suprasport.com/Quick-Shor...-V3_p_176.html

I'll let you guys know how it feels once I install it. It's a bit expensive but I can't find it anywhere else cheaper. I like how you can set it at the height you prefer.
