I tried searching for threads about this but only come up with the same type of threads asking "which spoiler is better" and "hooking up the light for the brake light" but not any on "removing the brake light"

Easiest way to explain the deal is this. Take the factory third brake light, unplug it, test the resistence and wattages of the bulbs. Replace a small resistor circuit with the same pull and resistence. That should kill the light on the dash. Or do what lex400sc says, pull the dash bulb.
