Default the sc's out of commission HELP

So, A few days ago while driving my sc, I kept hearing a bug clunk from underneath the car.. I thought it was my trans going out so i dropped it off at my mechanics house.. He just got back to me and gave me the rundown..

He explained to me that the teeth on the gears in the rear end are shot and that I either need to replace them, or get a new rear end.. My question is would it be easier to just replace the gears, or would it be smart just to replace the rear end?

Also, he explained to me that my rack and pinion is moving about an inch or so whenever i drive it, but he isn't sure if it's going out.. I told him a while back that it might be the bushings that seem like their out.. What do you guys think?

He quoted me $1000.00 dollars for parts and labor to get my sc back in shape, and even offered one of his own vehicles for me to drive! lol

Help me please I need my sc!

Rear end as in the differential?

I know a lot of people on here go with the GS400 differential.

1000$ can but you a TT diff that has an LSD. Don't just rebuild the stock one, upgrade.

Yeah 1000 dollars can buy me a tt diff with lsd, but then I would have that plus a broke rack and pinion and no one to work on my car lol..

ps I have always admired your car qwksc, it has made my day plenty of times lol

I would definitely go with some sort of lsd. When something breaks it's always better to improve it. Just ask him how muc he will charge to do the work if you buy all the parts. He will probably even help you get the parts so you get the right one and he doesn't end up with installation headaches.
