The 3 vents that are in the 'wood' strip, require you to remove the glove box, you do this by taking off the horizontal plate just below the 'box and then remove the 'box all the screws are easy to find, be carefull of the spring near the door, don't lose or bend it. There are 2 screws behind little square covers take them off and the 3 wing nuts that hold the wood strip and the vents in place can be undone, spray some WD40 on them and wait a little while, the end nearest the speedo binnacle is held in place with just a clip, use a sucker or a padded pry tool to get it off, dont try to 'lever it off without padding, you will damge the binnacle covering. Start now and by 9'o'clock tonight you will have done the job, even with no experience.

Thanks for the info London Bill. I'm curious do I have to worry about interfering with the air bag at all?

There should be no need to disturb the air-bag but if you are concerned, disconnect the battery and wait 30 seconds before working on the car.

Question

Are you replacing the wood trim with carbon fiber?

I don't think this applies to Lexus SC300/400 models. They have passenger side air bags. The Soarer doesn't. The trim seems to be some how attached to the air bag door.
