He's right,... cars can vary off the showroom floor with a variance of up to 15rwhp.... as result of each ECU being different. I had a Z car that I installed a SAFC and my fuel curve (stock) was alllllllll screwed up,....lean in the lower rpms,....rich in the middle ( power loss there ) and lean again up high,... thus it had to programmed to compensate the errors of THAT ECU. If I had of put someone else's fuel map in,...I might have made the lean area of my fuel curve even leaner and detonated my engine real good and melted my pistons,...or dumped more fuel in where it was already rich and bogged my engine down even more,..to create an even greater loss of performance, a whole bunch of smoke, and a waste of investment ( cost of SAFC ). It'd be insane to even think about what you're thinkin'....just as much of a gamble as gettin' a prostitute w/o protection,...not wise.

depends on the shop
Normally $250 per dyno tuning hour,...that's about 9 runs,...1 baseline,...8 runs per setting on the SAFC. It costs more when you use the wideband O2 sensor as opposed to doing just a straight pull on the dyno without it. Avg install price is about $75-100.

$100 dyno time...
dyno time costs different if you are just doing normal pulls vs. O2 wideband to tune. The charge more because the O2 sensor is an item that is worn by usage and thus must be replaced ( and payed for ).
$75 for a normal pull +15 per additional
