If you are bored with your SC, why aren't you modding your SC? If you think a stock MK3 is more fun then you are greatly mistaken (unless it's a turbo model with the 5spd). In any case you're gonna do some modding for these cars to be fun, fast, and reliable (I stress reliable for the Supra's case).

Well, right now I am unemployed and going to school to try and get this government job in town on the Base. Thats why theres not much on my car but suspension and wheels and now i have a new steering wheel, needles, ls400 brakes, and touch up paint in my room to be put on.
The thing is with these cars, their so expensive to have any performance fun with! Im sure if I land this job that will no longer be the case but right now, its just ...... bleh! ha

I've came up into the supra world around MKIIIs. Never owned one but have done a LOT of work on them. It was the car that made me fall in love with speed. I was 20 and my buddy had a 400whp 89 MKIII targa and it was the most fun car I had ever been in. Sure, they're inexpensive but they're a great way to get started working on cars as they are overall very easy to work on and easy to modify. I think they have a very cool look- especially with nice wheels and a good brake/suspension setup. And definitely don't bother with anything but a turbo 5 speed. The auto's just aren't fun. Sure it's easy and cheap to swap, but why not start out right?
The interiors are dated but I highly recommend you sit in one before you judge it. I dare say the seats are almost MORE comfortable than my SC seats. I had some basic understanding of driving stick before this, but the first car I learned to drive stick on was a MKIII... on the way to SILV!!! But it was a super comfy road trip for me, I enjoyed the hell out of it.
MKIIIs are fun cars and can look cool done right- but it's just a radically different car than an SC

I've built enough MKIII's in my day. I would trade my SC for a well maintained car any day of the week. That's hard to find amongst MKIII's. They can be great cars if built right but can also give you the biggest headache in the world. Tit for tat they are 2 different cars and can't be compared. Fun is different to everybody. I saw drive one and make your decision based on that.

HAHA, some of the comments in this thread made me laugh.
As an owner of both the SC and MK3 Supra, I can tell you both are VERY different cars. My Supra is more fun to drive (turbo car = WAY MORE FUN), handles better, and feels more sporty. The SC on the other hand is more comfortable and quieter overall (even though the MK3 seats are CRAZY comfortable), but is still plenty sporty.
As most people mentioned, its kinda hard to find a MK3 in real good shape. Most often, they are negleted or beaten on/raced and suffer because of this. They also have gotten a bad rap because of this. Bad owners blow up cars, period. Neglect a 1 or 2JZ and itll blow up just as easily as the 7M. My 500HP 7M has been nothing but reliable. Why? Because I built it correctly and take care of it.
I actually am looking for a 1JZ MK3 to be my daily instead of my SC. I really miss driving a turbo car, they are just too much fun.

I dont have but a few pics on this computer
On the trailer
On the track (dont mind the low, low intercooler pipes, long story)
This vid is from 2 years at TX2K9, best run of the day. The built auto in the car couldnt handle the power and wasnt shifting, I was in and out the throttle all the way down the track and could only manage an 11.77.

Nicely modded MK3's are sexy, call me crazy but I prefer nicely modded MK3(later models 90-92?) over MK4 in term of looks anyway. BUT MK3's appear to have hg and other reliability problems. SC400's are boring I know I had one. My TTZ solved my boredom issue.

I have a 92 MK3 Turbo that makes around 360whp and i will tell you i've had 3 SC300's as well two of them turbo, one manual..
With the Supra though, if you plan on rockin the 7M be prepared to spend your days off under the hood.. I swear it's a blast to drive, and i love it when some mustang or camaro decides to try and race me wondering (wtf is that a probe?) as much as i love it, it does seem like i'm chasing down some kind of issue with the 7m every week..
couple pics of my baby, btw this is my first supra, but i've owned 3 SC's two turbo and one manual..
