ideas for replacing door pillar covers?
I have a 97' and the side pillar covers on the door arent in very good condition. It looks like the previous owner spray painted them black to fix whatever aging it was showing. Can I take this whole piece off and replace it? I want it to look oem or at least not cheap.
I found these covers on ebay but they seem very pricey for a freaking sticker.

I also found them in carbon fiber but I think it looks kind of tacky. Id rather have something oem than a sticker that can catch dirt on the edges and lift.
Any suggestions?

first you have to remove your door panels and the inner window trims.
you also have to unscrew the side mirrors (which are held on by just 3 bolts).
once you have those taken off...
then you can access the small nuts that hold the exterior window trim to the door. (5 nuts i believe)
it's really easy once you take off the interior panels. after that, u'll see its very easy to remove the exterior window trim.
while you have it off, might as well inspect it to make sure the rubber isen't sun-dried/rotted. if so, i would replace it all together.

there is a guy in IL with the same color car and wheels i think,
try the paint it yourself, its a small area as long as you spray evenly and lightly you cant really mess up
