Default Strange Sound!!

I have a 97 sc400 140k miles. I have been having a loud kind of hard to describe sound coming from the trans area, it is louder when i first start the car for the day, then when i put it in gear it quiets down but you can still hear it. You can also hear it when driving. The sound gets lounder with rpm. At first i thought it was a exhaust leak, but i got under the car today and had somebody rev it while i was under the car, it kinda sound like a scratchy metal sound, that seems to be coming from the bell housing area. Any help would be greatly apreciated.

well apparently it isnt something good, i was driving the car tonight and its sliping really bad into 2and gear and i guess third. I let the car sit for about 2 hrs and it was fine after driving for about 20 mins then it started sliping again. The more i listen to the sound the trans is making it sound like how a power stering pump would sound when its starving for fluid. And the check engine light came on. Any thoughts would be great.

sorry man i have no advice for you other than to check the codes for the engine light.

before you do anything drastic try chaging the trsnny fluid---its a long shot but its best to try that first.

good luck and keep us posted

Does anyone know what yr transmissions are compatible with a 97? I cant seem to find a good answer, and also where would be a good place to find a low milage one, for a good price? Should i replace the tourqe converter as well?
