How reliable is your swapped SC300?
I am just curious to know how many/what kind of issues you swapped guys are having? I have been obsessing over every detail of doing this swap but I haven't taken the time to really see if the car is going to be a reliable daily driver. I know there are a lot of variables to consider but I figure its a pretty straightforward swap and if there are issues to be had, they have probably already been encountered by those who have done it.

i've had issues with mine. Some have been blunders on my part. The biggest thing that has held me back are the turbos. My second set of twins just bit the dust and now im on the hunt for a single setup. Also my ECU isn't letting my a/c work unless i physically attach a ground for the compressor. the engine itself is physically fine, cranks and starts every time. I just haven't been able to really have fun with it.

it is a gamble to swap engines period.
your taking someone elses word on mileage and condition and treatment of these engines.
also you have to make sure the job is done right.
personally i would do everything in my power not to have to swap out an engine.
sometimes it is necessary but in alot of cases it isnt.

My 1jz swap was great. The only thing I had go wrong was my alt. It was the sc one, no big deal. Oh yeah, anyone reading this just send your wiring stuff to Phoenix tuning; it saves you in the long run.

Thanks for the replies so far.
I made this thread because it is very important to me that I don't have a tempermental car when I get back from Afghan. I will rely on it to get me to and from work and I will be driving it back and forth from TN to FL a few times a year at least.
I have to admit that after what I am hearing so far, I am kind of considering buying something else as a daily driver and building an SC300 on the side as I save the money for it.

I think what you should ask is how many people who have swapped an engine did maintenance on their engine before the swap. Dropping a used engine is like wearing a used condom, I guess it would work, but it's an expensive gamble.
