Wow, that really sucks. Personally i would just get another one if that one is that bad. And i am speaking from expierience as i drive a salvaged 1992 sc400. Just my opinion. Good luck with whatever the outcome is.

I think that quote is just too high

there has to be a way to minimize the costs.

So what are your plans for the car if you dont mind me asking?

im with this as well

and take a GOOD look at the estimate.

this is the typical highway robbery B.S that body shops are known for.

every price they gave you is extremely high.

Now this is good because maybe you can get the insurance company to fork over a cheque for this amount.

Im sure you can get it done properly for less than half if u play your cards right.

good luck man and please dont give up on it just yet.

It was truly painful to see your original thread when it got hit - yours was probably one of the best examples out there. Good luck getting it repaired if you decide to go that route. If insurance if offering to replace components with new instead of LKQ parts, as in this estimate, I'd recommend you take them up on it.

Keep us updated.

Those are local dealer prices on new Lexus parts. Sometimes a 20-30% shop mark-up is included - pretty standard stuff.

For quality work, the estimate seems about right.

How do I know? My SC400 was pristine, but needs a rear quarter among other things at the moment after someone killed it in a parking lot. Insurance estimate came back at $7800, and my car doesn't have the rear structural damage the OP's car has. The quality of assembly and paint finishing on these cars means that it is quite expensive to do it right. Considering the condition of this vehicle in particular, it deserves nothing less.

yes im not doubting that the estimate is standard, I guess the best way to word it is that body shops standard rates are ussually off the charts high because they know they have u in a corner and most of the time it is insurance paying for these repairs.

But on the other hand you do ussually have to pay to get the job done right---but there are ways to keep the cost down ussually.

Personally I would try to source out the parts myself---and just have the body shop do what is absolutely necessary.

That makes no sense------he can have a cap on his own repairs for his own car but not on others---thats the whole point of insurance liability--it covers the 'OTHER' guy.

Something isnt right here---that doesnt make sense at all.
