Doubt it as the ecu will adapt or learn so I would say no.

Hmn. When I worked at lexus (2002) and later at nissan, we did final ecu loading at the dealer. I remember all 350Z's had "midwest" tunes.
We need confirmation on this for OBDI and OBDII SC's.
Physically, yes, emissions equipment will be different as well.

I know for certain Acura/Honda's have different maps for california, still to this day.

This is funny, because my car IS from florida, and it HATES the winters! No kidding, when it's brutally cold but the streets are salt free and dry, I'll drive it and sometimes get a check engine light that says "Engine Coolant out of range - cold" LOL! But she loves the hot summers. Go fig.

Yea I agree some cars are diff and have diff maps but we are talking a non performance engine unless a vvti which may be diff as it could have more agressive timing advance maps depending on region but early obd1 cars had the universal map burnt in to an e-prom chip where as flashable obd2 car can be changed via flash.

If that were the case obd1 car would blow up if you drive out of your area on vacation as I drove my sc300 from IL to California in mid summer 4 years ago and put in that **** poor fuel and it ran fine with no cel's although it lost some serious power in higher elevations.

mmm...

@ 1997Soarer, so is climate considered? I know octane levels and emissions law would be a factor, but will climate be? Or all Lexus would be safe for every climate?
