I agree with pcmw. If you're getting a grinding sound at the top of travel, either the nylon belt that extends the mast has lost some teeth or the mast has too much resistance to extend fully. A new mast is really easy to install. The only thing I would add to pcmw's instructions is this: the copper collar that you see at the bottom of your new mast is the way that the motor assembly knows the mast is at the bottom. Make sure that the mast is fully collapsed and that the copper collar enters the motor assembly smoothly to ensure that the motor knows just where the new mast is.
