people of CL i am confusedd, google is not cooperating with me for this one...![Sad](https://www.clublexus.com/forums/images/smilies/sad.gif)
so when i bought these off a local guy he had a couple of 2jz-gte motors in his garage, one getting bored, polished, the works.. so he didnt need the stock 2j cams. so me being new to the concept of headwork i decided to buy the cams thinking all 2jz cams are the same.
now when i am deciding wether to use them or not its becoming complicated, are they usdm or jdm?? as far as i have read the usdm cams are much better and can add anywhere from 20whp+ and increase the power band by about 1000rpm just by swapping cams with minor adjustments.
so my question is are these usdm or jdm??
and should i swap them in for my stock 1jz-gte cams???

I think you can measure peak lift by measuring across the smallest, round part of the lobe first. This gives you base circle. Then measure from the point of the tip to the back side of the base (the largest part of the lobe). Subtract base circle to get peak lift. So if the base circle is 1.3" and the big part of the lobe measures 1.5", you have .2" lift

^ 1J's fall flat on their face after 6000 rpms or so.. The 2JZGTE cams (machined to work with the 1J head) will help squeeze more out of your RPM band after 6K.. Turning up the boost isn't always the only answer.
To the OP: do research on this, just machining down the journals shouldn't be the only thing needed to be done.
and is it worth it? Definitely, you can get a set of USDM cams for roughly $125 to $175, machining shouldn't be more than $100. That's approximately $275, definitely a great BANG; for the BUCK.. lol
Or you could always save up another $225 and get BC Cams made for the 1J..
