Default I think I found my SC, can I get your opinion ?

Hey All,

I've been on the lookout for my project SC for awhile and I have a candidate I want to show you all. Heres what I've been able to gather from the owner.

1- He bought it with the GE in it already
2- It does NOT run

Info is limited cause we have only emailed back and forth. I plan on checking the car out this afternoon. What I want to do is get the motor running for a few months while I finish planning my GTE. I have a feeling that is going to be more work than I want to take on, What do you think ? will it be difficult to diagnose the motor without having the background on how it was put in ? If it is I will still make an offer but it will be half of what he's asking, 1200.00 is the asking price BTW. Any suggestions on pitfalls I should look for? besides the normal stuff of course. Specific to a v8 to GE swap lol thanks guys.

well since the engine is not running you have to assume the worst.

To say you just want to get it running for a few months is not really going to be that easy in my opinion.

Either you fix the engine (which could be very costly) or you swap it out.

I would wait for something else to come along forsure.

Just my opinion--good luck

I would get something else personally. The price is too high in my opinion.

Ok, so your answer is justified on how much work you are willing to put into a 16+ year old vehicle. The body looks straight and all of the engine parts seem to be intact. You could fix it up and have a great car, or part it out yourself if you have the space and time. How many miles are on the car? Do you have any mechanic friends to find out the source of no ignition? When you check it out, bring a battery tester. Who knows, the seller might be lazy and doesn't want to purchase a $100 battery or $200 alternator. Do your best to get it started before purchasing it so you can listen for knocks and check for head gasket leaks. Also check all fluid levels (especially the coolant). That's about the best advice I can give you.

so the owner or previous owner, swapped out the V8 and put in the Six? and it doesn't run? make sure it runs like the others said... if it doesn't. offer him 800 bux and take it as a shell that u can turn into a 1jz or 2jz project. im sure you could easily part out the engine parts.

Well, you can't drive it, so you don't know how it even feels going down the road, how it shifts, etc. So suppose you get it to run, there's all that. Front bumper paint sucks, wheels suck, tires probably suck. How's the interior. All the variables = way less than $1200, I'd say 700 tops.

Exactly

so you buy the car and get the engine fixed only to realize the tranny slips as well.

And then you fix that to find out the car shakes on the highway and you need to replace parts on the front end.

I think you get the idea, leave this car exactly where u found it.

personally i would never buy a car i cant test drive.
