On my 92 sc400.
Went to pep boys. Told them my model, etc. They were about $11 each.
I removed the front cover exposing the tank . To remove cover, pull top part of cover towards the back of car and it will slide out after u pop out fasteners on the side.
I laid in the trunk and just used a screwdriver to pry (and destroy) the old clip off that was on the front side of the car. Then slid that end off.
Notes: make sure u have a helper with u. It really makes a difference with moving it up down for adjustments. Oh and prevents being trapped in the car. Please note for ur safety one good new strut will NOT hold the trunk up.
After clip removal slide the forward end of the strut off the rod attached to car, then pop the the other end off ...I.e. Pop the socket of the strut off the ball attached to the car.
I installed the forward end first. New one has a built in retaining clip. Make sure the retaing clip is positioned toward the middle of the car when u slide this in.
Have ur helper adjust trunk height to line up ball with socket on other end and push on.
This was a lot easier than I thought it'd be.
