Wiring from H3 to 9006 <foglights>
#17
There's only one company out there that I know of that makes an H3 HID kit, and I hear they aren't spectacular. I'm going to explore different H3 bulbs first before I decide on an aftermarket foglight system. Others of you with the H3 foglights should try to remove that metal bonnet that covers the H3 bulb. It does effectively increase brightness, I'm just looking for a good color now to match my HIDs.

All I am trying to do is fit the IS projector into the casing of the SC's foglights, thats why I was asking if it would be ok to use the wiring of the H3 bulb with a 9006 harness...

Skul,
I took apart my foglights today on my first gen gs that uses the H3 bulbs. Its gonna be hard to do man. I'm still gonna do it though. Let me point out some things first and what needs to be done for this to work.
1. The Base of the H3 bulb is VERY thin and there is a metal piece that is on a latch that is used to hold the H3 bulb in its place.
2. The 9006/9005 Base is about 1 cm thick. You will need to file this down as thin as possible
3. I tried to slide the 9006/5 bulb through the hole in the foglight housing. the bulb didn't fit. you are going to need to enlarge this hole.
4. The legs that are used to hold the 9006/9005 bulb in place in a correct housing is too long. you will need to file down all 3 legs all the way.
5. The space inside the Foglight housing is VERY SMALL. and will most likely not work for you because the plug on the bulbs are to the SIDE and it will not allow you to close the foglight housing up.
6. The reason why i may be able to get this to work is because i am going to be putting HID' bulbs into my foglight housing. and instead of a plastic base that goes off to the side for you to plug your harness into there is just 2 wires coming out of the base (look at pic below. its not an actual 9006 bulb but just to show you how the wires come out). i'm gonna do the drilling and filing down of my HID bulb MAYBE this weekend.
