I wetsand and polish mine with a few different compounds. I did my headlights over a year ago and they look good today. If they start to turn yellow, I usually can scrub it off with a terry cloth.

I've always understood oxidization on headlights to be caused by the UV coating deteriorating. If you get oxidization and sand/polish you remove a small layer of the plastic which may expose fresh plastic which still has the layer of UV coating. As you remove more and more layers you eventually get to a layer of plastic that has no coating. Think of it as removing layers of paint and getting past the clear coat down to the base coat.

With my SC300 I've polished the lenses once and it's been months with no sign of oxidization returning. My mothers car(mercury) I've polished many times and the oxidization returns very quickly.

Yup this is correct and one more way to get rid of the yellowing is to either hand buff or use a buffer with mothers aluminum polish, It works!

Buffing takes way too long. I just use brake fluid to remove the yellow, rinse the headlight and then wax them.
