Just got my headlights restored without plastic polish!

I've always understood oxidization on headlights to be caused by the UV coating deteriorating. If you get oxidization and sand/polish you remove a small layer of the plastic which may expose fresh plastic which still has the layer of UV coating. As you remove more and more layers you eventually get to a layer of plastic that has no coating. Think of it as removing layers of paint and getting past the clear coat down to the base coat.
With my SC300 I've polished the lenses once and it's been months with no sign of oxidization returning. My mothers car(mercury) I've polished many times and the oxidization returns very quickly.
