Default What "x"UZ engine should i swap?

so I just got into a fender bender, but I plan on getting a large settlement for the damage and other things.. I'm going to fix the minor damage to my bumper, then I want to swap a "X"UZ engine to my sc400. There are a lot of tundra engines that I heard I could fit. I want more power and torque, but i'm keeping the automatic. I want to keep all of the trac controls, and i dont want a check engine light.

Does anyone have any insight on which engine I should swap, how much they cost, and the compatability that comes with it. Thanks

I would go for a 1UZ VVTI. They go for like $1400 from what I've seen. It's probably the transmission that will cost you unless you figure out a way to use your stock 4-speed auto though.

Assuming you have a pre-vvti vehicle, the VVTi motor will be harder to install unless you use a standalone. search, there are plenty of info about that issue... but I say vvti 1uz with standalone.

Me too. My buddy has a 98 and its torque is quite noticeable than my 92 or 95. Vvti has some power stock.

It would be very difficult to swap a complete tundra motor in. Use the 2uzfe block & internals and use 1uzfe heads, manifold, etc. This way you can use your stock ecu and wiring harness.

Honestly, the stock ECU is garbage though.

Agreed, if you are going to all the trouble to swap in a new short block you might was well go standalone..

Exactly, this is what I was originally thinking

Everyone seems to have a vvti motor and the power doesn't seem significantly different from my non-vvti..

Would this be a good idea for a daily driver?

I was thinking about this also, can I have more insight on the compatability of the 3uz?

1UZ dynos 200-210.
1UZ VVT-i dynos 240-250
1UZ VVT-i with an intake and exhaust dynos 270hp.

Add in the 5 SPEED AUTOMATIC and the 3.27 rear end to give you a significantly different driving experience.

Drawback is you need the whole car to do the swap but I am sure Aliga can provide you with one if you are patient.
