Buying A Car
So i'm definitely going to be making a decision in the next 2-3 month's when I get the money situation down to buy a car.I have kinda been in a an toss up between the 240sx s13 and an sc300.I know these two cars are TOTALLY different cars, but after tuned the are both legendaries(Supra vs. Skyline) but this will be the first car I own to tune and experiment with little...scratch that NO experience, but I will be learning and having help by friends. I have came up with a sorta non exhaustive list of pro's and con's just by viewing this forum and the 240sx forum.Any advice is still helpful you guys will have a part in my decision depending on the advice I get. Thanks alot and I keep on studying both cars
240
Pros:
-RB25,SR20
-Weight
-Aftermarker Support
-All S13 engine swaps are legal/allowed in North Carolina(Any car which is an year 96' or older no emssions test required)
-Noob Friendly(Can break a part and easily replace for cheap)
-Gas Milage(Wonders what the difference would be after boosted)
Cons:
-Comfortabilty
-Cop Magnet(Can go both ways although)
-More common than sc300(which can be a good and bad thing)
SC300
Pros:
-1JZ,2JZ
-Comfortability
-Stock look(has a nice body stock)
-Not so common as 240's and those annoying Honda's
Cons
-VERY rare to find a 96' or older(Emsissions test maybe a problem)
-Weight
-Little Aftermarket Support
-Not as noob friendly(parts are more expensive if they break)

i paid 3900 for my 95 and im glad i did, solid car, dependable, and its easy to turbo...240 on the other hand nice, like u said cop magnet, and hope u dont mind waiting for parts for that rb25 from japan cause u arent gonna find any in a junkyard...u'll have a harder time finding a 97+ than 92-96...

Agreed,I mean I know there is sc300's out there years 96 and below but me not having my own car restricts me from traveling to far from my town for my search. That is very true what you said about the rb25 that EXACTLY why i'm not doing that swap lol,the price alonne with the engine and tranny is like around 2k and then preping it to be swapped is the next situation. If I was to go with the 240sx I would do an SR20 swap, less hassle. The other hand the 2JZGTE reigns in performance and I cant go wrong on that.

LOL,yeah I refuse to let that be me,but thanks for your advice man I will keep searching and see what will best fit me.As you mentioned it needs to be dependable,Lexus are pretty solid for that for the most part.Im a young guy too 18 to be exact, college in the fall and I feel as the more I get older the less i'm going to be worried about zipping around town in a swapped car.But more on the visual side. The blue sc's are BEAUTIFUL with nice wheels and proper lowering kit.
