The reason for having a relay to power HID ballasts in cars that do not come with stock HIDs, is because ballasts draw a lot more power at start up than the stock lighting. Which has the potential to melt wiring since stock lighting harness isn't rated for the higher amperage draw.

It doesn't mean its gonna happen, since technically the headlight fuse should pop before any damage occurs but the constant over heating of the wire can lead to the insulation melting potentially leading to electrical gremlins. So it's probably better safe than sorry.

So, would you suggest for me to get a relay for the fog lamps as well??

What's up guys! I started this thread and I recently just bought the HID's and installed them and detailed the headlights and fog lights before everything else! I mounted the ballasts beside each other on each side at the aluminum bar that supports the whole front bumper. It's kinda *****ty that the LED's I ordered to replace the signal lights in front where the wrongs ones but I'm sending them tomorrow to superbrightleds.com to get the correct ones so that the amber color doesn't reflect on the headlights, but I was able to replace the parklights to LED's and they look B-E-A-U-tiful! Oh and also! I did the fog lights mod so I can turn it on even if the headlights are turned off, so I'm using the fogs as DRL right now. Here are some before and after pics!

Here are some morning pics with the LED parklight. I don't know why the hell is the headlight greenish but in person it's super white.

wow great job man. I just got a '95 SC400 myself and my driver side headlight looks just like yours did. How the heck did you bring it back to life? Did you wet sand it or something? How you got the water out of it? Let me know pleeeease! Congrats on the car, it really does look great.

I found this guide here at the forum, at the DIY section, and pretty much followed the whole thing, washed it, wet sanded it, and then buffed it with a buffing machine. The whole thing just like doing a paint job...https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sc-...finishing.html

There's a DIY somewhere here. can't really look for it right now, I'll try to post it later on... Oh, I never did it btw, it ain't worth it to go through all that trouble just for that cut-off line... The stock ones suffice for what I use the car for...

The diy i found was a thread made by o.l.t and it does indeed look confusing and complicated.

If you're talking about the retrofit for the fogs this is it. The only thing hard to do about this is fitting the lens.

It's not really worth it, although when I have extra cash I'm gonna do it as well just for the heck of it. Or you can use the LED ones.
