I just saw a widebody SC on here for 6K with Weds 19's. Last month I saw a feaking clean *** SC300 built motor fresh paint single turbo with 75K on it go for 8K. Those cars are listed for crack prices. SC models have no resale value at all. So what 50K on it who cares a clean car is a clean car. My MKIV had 40K on it and was no cleaner than most with 100K just matters on how the car was taken care of. Stupid to pay that much really is unless you are a collector???????
I agree the two cars posted are definitely on the high end of the scale in terms of price.

But im not sure what u mean by 'sc models have no resale'.

They actually have a good resale value.

And yes i know there are deals if u look for them, i was very blessed to get my sc for the price i did but if u look around there are alot of sc's on the market with extremeyl high mileage and still fetching a decent amount of money.

Amytime u find a 99 with low miles it is going to command a high price.

thanks

I can see if you are looking to collect like me I have paid crazy amounts for MKIV Supra's. But the SC idk the 99 are very nice just if you look you can find awesome ones for super cheap. Miles on a SC don't matter to most just the condition of the car.

^^^yes i found mine for super cheap i was very grateful for that.

There are alot of people that are swapping out engines on these sc's and modding them like crazy so for them mileage isnt really a concern.

For myself and the average buyer who is looking to keep the car pretty much close to stock I think mileage will be more of an issue.

thanks

You clearly don't know/understand how much work is involved to turbo charge a sc400. Besides, if the OP wishes to turbo charge either of them, he will be wise to choose the sc300. Unless of course, if he is looking for a reliable stock ride, sc400 offers plenty of power to meet the requirement.

The dealer knows your going to knock the price down, but anyhow, really high for some 99's. Unless its a private owner, then no comment.

Most people want a cheap sc300 stick shift for turbo & mods or a 98-00 sc400 for clean stock or lightly modded vehicle. 99 sc300 isn't either so it's not really sought after.

Anyone with a bit of money would get a 2nd gen sc430 v a first gen sc300/400. niche cars without a market for high end buyers.

I disagree....2nd generation & 1st generation buyers have nothing in common...2nd generation seems to appeal to women who do not appreciate the opposite sex...

AHAHAHAHAHAHAA
the sc 430's are fugly if you ask me, more expensive? of course.. quality.. probably, just not my taste at all!

btw your best bet for buying any used car in general is to go for a private seller. they can shake anything off the price that you can convince them to and 9.99/10 times it'll be a few grand cheaper than a dealership. (be sure never to smile when your inspecting/negotiating a car and always find something to disappoint you) and btw.. just because its from a dealer doesn't mean it doesn't have any flaws (they have staff dedicated to the sole purpose of cleaning and hiding things w/ temporary fixes etc) buy private, save a few grand, and re-invest half of what you saved in price difference to ensure reliability. cant go wrong. good luck

only suggestion is to offer him a significantly lower price and than play the waiting game.

Dealers ussually like to keep cars moving so even if his profit is less he might go for it.

What you dont want to do is pay what hes asking, far to high IMO.

Ive never bought from a dealer and I hope I never have to .

.
Youve got a bit of a point there.

Most sc300's are polular for their 5spds and their ability to easily go turbo and or swap out engines.

This car is too expensive, clean and doesnt have a five speed.

Wouldnt be very cost effective to pay so much for this car only to swap out the engine or do any more modifying when you could get one for much cheaper.

im still not sure what lexus did with the sc430's.

They could/should of been much better and much more of a mans sprts car.

Im not 100% sure but if given the opportunity to get a low mileage 99-00 sc400 or a 2001 sc430 with same mileage I think I woulfd definitely give the sc400 alot of consideration before passing it up.

Would be a tough call for me not sure about you guys.

I am not disagreeing with you.

1st generation buyers are twenty-somethings (possibly late teens) who go to school (collage) or don't have a well paying job yet.

2nd generation buyers 30+ with a steady career.

It depends on what you want out of the car. If you want a clean daily driver and have no plans for engine mods then the 400 you're looking at is a great choice, its the most powerful stock sc in the US market and the later models were by far the most luxurious. The 300 going to be a hard sell to anyone who really knows sc's. Most people looking specifically for a 300 want to mod them and don't want to spend that much up front.
