Moonroof lift/slide issue broken track?
ran into an issue yesterday after washing my car I popped the moonroof up only to find that it was only lifting one side. I took out the glass to get a better idea what broke and I think it has something to do with the lifting mechanism not lifting (even with me assisting on the driver side) also the glass can be pushed forwards/backwards on the driverside when it is in the flat position. I'm not sure what broke and after searching only to find issues for wind noise and weight reduction I thought I would try my luck posting.
^bracket/lifter mechanism that is not lifting on driver side.
are there any gears under the headliner that I should look at to see if they are broken?
Thanks for any info/direction

^ lol until I sort out that $86k bill from my surgery Im going to try and fix this for little to nothing. How hard was it to remove the headliner when you did yours as in will I be able to manage it in my current physical state? I looked at ebay for replacements and saw that there was quite a bit more to the whole moonroof assembly then I thought.
Maybe there is a generous fellow SC owner that has a spare one brb searching the pay it forward thread.

lol...itd not hard. Take off visors and dome light. Then the head liner comes un Velcro-ed. Then ther is like 12 nuts and bolts to remove (6 each i think), then the 4 water drain tubes. And it falls down, its pretty heavy so in your weakened state you might need 2 normal size men or half of me!

same exact issue here guys, desperately seeking info/diy help regarding this topic. same exact symptoms on my '91 LS400. I too the window part out, messed with the axle that pulls/pushes the whole window back and forth, tried to use super strong adhesive, but it still came undone... I have a feeling it'll be expensive to replace the whole assembly, but if thats what it takes, thats what I'll do. has anyone ever encountered this problem? should I just stop messing with it and replace the damn thing?
thx

Hi,
Sorry for the late reply. I didnt think the whole thing through when I wrote the above comment, therefore I wasnt thinking with my "fixie" side of my brain. Now that I know how to remove it, I'm gonna give it a shot. The last time I took the glass out I saw the broken part. It's the part that pushes/pulls and tilts the glass up, but on the inside of the rail. The part that broke is the part thats responsible for pulling and pushingthe whole assembly back and forth. I'll try to upload pics later, maybe I can tie a piece of wire around it, for temporary use.
I rarely use my sunroof anyway, so as long as it seals right and doesnt leak I dont care if it works or not.
My answer to your question is light grey.

my Moonroof was stuck in the opposite tilt direction. couldnt get it to straighten out. would go forward and back and tilt up and down but never sit flush. searched the forum. saw stuff about resetting and calibrating and holding buttons down for like 20 seconds did nothing. greased/lubed all the rails etc.. didnt see anything blocking any pathways. tried tilting While holding the slide switch and that finally straightened it out.
