Unhappy Kind of considering another SC

Last summer my brother got my 95' SC300 for me for $3100. It's black with black interior with 183k miles on it. It's just that I plan on getting a paint job on it once I can get a shine kit on it. But the paint is pretty bad, which is why I want an entire respray of OEM Black Onyx. I saw the thread with the paint job done extremely well from Shine Auto Project and thought that was amazing as well, although I heard that SC was there for 8 months.

I'm wondering what I should save my money up for, keep working on this car or get another newer SC? What do you guys think would save me money and time?

I would weigh in the differences between your car and a secondary SC. how much is the paint job going to cost versus how soon maintenance needs to be done/what HAS been done.

If you can find a cleaner one with a good maintenance history in your budget, why not?

This depends on your budget and how new of an SC you want. I would buy another one if the paint on yours is pretty bad. Getting a car repainted won't be cheap unless you've got connections.

If you can get the entire car repainted cheaply and your SC runs good, I'd keep it.

I'm kinda just trying to weigh which would be more expensive, keep working on my car and get:

Shine Kit: $1,200
Paint job from Shine Auto Project like "xknowonex": $3,000-$5,000

Or get a newer 97+ SC300, I don't know a good price on it. I'm just working on goals here guys.

I plan on keeping my interior though and try working on a very good set of 95' taillights, if I can't then I'll settle for a good set of 97'+ taillights. I also plan on getting Megan coilovers and 19" Work Varianza Schwert SC1 rims. These here are things that can go on another SC as well, but I'm just letting you guys know my plans.

I'm also living under my dad's insurance, there's no way he would let me have two cars lol. I plan on having one main daily SC.

For a good 97+ you're realistically looking at about 6 grand and up. If you want to save on the paint, take the car to Shine and ask them what prep work you could do to save yourself some money.

I think I'll consider that, its just that I wanted a good outline of what my goals should be lol. I don't have nearly enough money for that, but better to know what I should be doing before I make the mistake right?

i'd say get a 97+... unless u want a MT
pros:
similar price i think(after u sell your sc)
you don't have to repaint it
usually better condition
most probably lower miles on the car
vvti engine
gated shift ****
97 tail lights
better resell value....
etc. too much to list
cons:
no mt?

I was going to say the same thing lol. Instant +100 torque there, and doesn't that thing get 1 mpg better than what we currently get? imo both cars are ugly stock, but once dropped I think you'll be happy with either deciddion you go with.

If you do keep your current ride

Check out with ScottURnot did with his tails. I beleive they are: 1995 bracket, 1995 core, and either eBay or 19997 lens over. They come out clean and don't look as "pink" as the clear section of with 1992-1995 ones.

Most importantly set small goals you can get to and celebrate once you do. That way ALL of your goals at once don't overwhelm you and you will be able to push forth. It's hard working with our cars since they are not new, especially if the last owner didn't not maintain it to OUR expectations.

Keep your head high with your plans. I've been there with things looking bad or not going at the pace you wish.

I'd get a clean white 98+ SC4 and swap the interiors. White on Black ftw! then sell the black/tan SC3 :P

Shine kit + vinyl wrap = less than $2,000. forget paint...done.

I know the first thing that comes to peoples mind is matte black vinyl wraps. 3M, Avery, and Oracal all have vinyl wrap media in any color these days including gloss, matte, and even metallic finishes. $600 of wrap media will be more than enough to handle an SC. Believe me, I've measured everything and you'll need a 60" inch roll by 25 yards. Install time is two full days even with someone that has no experience. If you get bored, just peel it all off and change the color. You can wrap a car 4 times before you get into a professional paint price.
