Take off the trunk lining right behind the taillights. I forgot how many bolts but there might be 4? Its really straight forward after you take off the lining

Yeah it's pretty easy, have to remove mine all the time to get water out, or replace a bulb the water killed, or replace a bulb a REAL bad bump in the road caused to break lol

4 10mm bolts, just pull back the lining like they said and you can't really miss them. I'd mark each socket you pull out with masking tape and a pen, whether it's top row left, middle, or right, and bottom row left, middle or right. That way it's easier to put them back in the right spot.

4 Bolts, one is hiding a little bit......
Closest to the reverse light...

Closest to the corner...

Then pull straight out (may require wiggling) and I would lay a towel on the bumper or painters tape the heck out of it so you don't scratch it while resting the light on the bumper, but that's not a must.

make sure you unplug the harness and push the weather socket thing out of the car.

IIRC 97 tails are not plug and play you need to rewire them
