Default Auto to Manual ECU needed?

I'm in the middle of getting my 97sc300 swapped over from auto to manul. Using a 95sc300 w58 tranny.

I've searched and found that a lot of people who've done the swap has just kept there auto ecu to operate the vehicle. By doing this the ecu will throw a CEL.

What are the best options to do about this?

a) just use the auto ecu and live with the CEL

b) buy which type of manual to fix this(any year sc300 manual ecu would work?)?

c) other?

I believe you can use either one with a manual, however using the manual ecu will be better in the long run.

The Auto ECU has the electronic control for the AT, which obviously isn't needed for the MT. There might be a few other things, but I haven't looked into them that deep.

What do you mean by, "Buy which type of manual to fix this?"

I meant does it matter which type of manual ecu i get? Pretty much can I just go to the junk yard and pick up a 93 or whatever year manual sc300 ecu and put it in my 97sc300 and it would still work. Sorry for the confusion. But I do appreciate your help and if you can help even more!

No. 92 to 96 are OBDI, and 96 to 2000 are OBDII. The problem is you won't find a manual ecu in anything newer that a 97. My suggestion would look for a rebuilt or used 97 manual ecu.

OBDII are stingy, if you want it to run without CEL you gotta find a 97 manual ECU which is extremely rare. What people do for the CEL they run resistors and they plug in the sensors from the auto.

I've actually ran across these a few times and I have contacted cartmill as well. But from what I remember these were meant for the vvti sc300 which my 97 doesn't have.

Regardless of the year, I figured it was directly related from the standpoint of tricking the auto ecu to work with a manual.

I have a 1993 manual sc300 and replaced my ecu with an auto. I now have a cel on and another thing about it is that when u fullthrottle say in second gear, it will pause for a second and then go like it were to let off gas to downshift. Most the time it will do that anytime u fullthrottle. Other than that it drives the same.
