Default 98 SC300 Overheat gauge problem

Hi guys,
i just recently got my sc300.
temperature gauge doesn't work on the cluster but other than that everything works...
I took it to a mechanic, he said it might be temperature sensor problem. i got the sensor and he tried it and now he saying that cluster needs to be change.

Has anyone had similar problem or anyone can give me some i ideas what should i do?

Could be a bad cluster. Get another one and try it. The guage cluster on these cars are known to be problematic.
