Thuglife? Move to my neck of the woods, i'll show you thug life.....
Anyway, the SC is a great car and very reliable, past 100K absolutely. As for whether a 16 year old should be driving an SC for his first car, i'm not your pops, but I don't see how that's appropriate. I'll mind my business and just tell you that these cars are verry well engineered, and PM me if you need a list of what to check for on a 'pre-owned' SC, but remember this, for his first car a true thug would buy an old boat Buick Electra for a couple hundred bucks and take the sawzall to it and make it a ghetto convertible, ya heard?

Lex Luthor are those tips you have of what to look for when buying a SC any tips that could be used when looking at a sc300 5 spd? If so could you please PM them to me? I would very much appreciate it.

A SC won't be my first car but something more reliable then the '93 rx7 I had(hopefully). When I look for an SC300 I want something with low enough miles/strong enough motor that I'll be able to eventually put a toyomoto(probably just stage 1) turbo kit on the existing engine and have it hold up.

Any tips anyone has would be appreciated. Don't mean to hijack this guys thread.

I really dont think its a good first car. You shold get a lesser car
( VW,honda, escort) something you can learn on and not have to worry about other kids messin with in the school parking lot. I started out on a 5liter mustang and although its not a Lex its way to fast for a 16 year old and a Lex is too nice. Your bound to crack it up.

i'm 17 and had a 90 maxima for less than a year so this is basically my first car. There is no need to worry about the parking lot scenario at high school if you have some respect for other people. i know this is a stereo type but by the name thuglife i can guess that your car might be a candidate for getting keyed. That is if you consider yourself a thug and are gonna buy a lexus, as lex luther has stated. All i know is that i don't know any thugs with lexus's, so therefore your trying to sound like something your not which shows little respect for yourself. i have found that people who don't respect themselves don't respect others eighter. just what i have learned no offense intended.

If you want a car to thrash and drive like most teenagers do then skip over the lexus because if your not gonna respect this car your gonna be choking up alot of dough to keep it in one decent piece. if you treat it right your odometer can most certainly see 300,000 miles.

As long as you are a responsible driver (yes there some 16 yr olds I'm sure) this car may be all good. It would definetly be a nice car to have for your first. Seems all these guys are concerned about speeding, so maybe look for an SC300. not saying they are slow, just less potential to do stupid things in a 400.

Save your cash and go for it! Just watch the insurance tho.

Default you are what you drive

in this culture that's way too true - if you are 16 and get a lexus and you understand what you've done, then act accordingly. If you don't get it, everyone will know it.

That's it.

I'm 16 and I have a 98 sc300. There are no problems at our high school because there are kids in the lot with 330's and m3's and other high end cars. One kid has a cl600. Girls don't really care about cars, or at least enough to get with a guy just cause he has a nice one. The lexus is a good car for dates and such but it's not the primary way to get girls by any means, so if thats what you're thinking than don't waste ur cash.

I don't know about that Emerald, do guys with SCs beat you with a stick or do you have to beat them with a stick?

Honestly I don't think SC is not the primary reason why girls pick you up; however, it helps especally if you are willing to play around on the road with a female car drivers. I have done it a million times. Once I got a phone number, but again, while my car helped me, it wasn't the primary reason.
