I am so glad you posted this because the previous owner of my car spray canned some of the interior White and then tried to spray can it again to make it black again. So now it is all blotchy and looks like crap. I want to sand it down and give it a good shine. I mean really what is wrong people and trying to paint the whole interior to look like crap!!?

This write up is awesome. Thank you for posting it.

Yeah, i mean polishing the the actual gated shifter part, that's black and has the numbers and letters on it....lol. I just don't know i could properly wetsand it..... (son)

I've done this on my Soarer over the last few days. I've so far done the climate control & the ashtray. I've found that the standard plastic has a very thin black coating on it & you soon rub through it. The plastic underneath polishes well, but you end up with something that looks like a very dark grey rather than jet black. The result isn't too unpleasant but it's not perfect. It definitely looks more modern.

I'll take some pics once I've finished the shifter surround & mounted the stereo properly.
