If you have a 1994 it would be much easier to do a non-vvti swap. The engine itself is a good upgrade and one of the more common swap's for SC's. I would be weary of buying engines through EBAY, though. Make sure whomever you buy from has good feedback and and has a reputation for selling 'clean' engines.

it depends what you want to do. the vvt-i 1jz has a single turbo compared to non vvt-i twins. seems like you want alot of power an dealing with vvt-i is a headache with all the restrictions. I might be wrong but im just using general knowledge. although the vvt-i is slightly more efficient though in terms of fuel an low end power

How do you like it? How was the swap...I figured VVTi would give me more stock power and better tuning capabilities. Is the swap more of a pain with a 1jz over a 2jz?

Has anyone ever put a single turbo on a vvti 1jz? I never seen anyone actually mod these engines.... what's the deal with that?

https://www.clublexus.com/forums/per...-thread-2.html

The swap is just as easy as any of the other jz motors and it uses alot of the parts from the regular ge and gte motors. That thread shows pic of a vvti swaped is300 with a 62mm down here in Fl and shows the parts that can be swapped from the older jz motors.

i have a custom fuel rail and i am sending my ct15b to driftmotion after i get my kidney out, and since it is already a single i think most will be happy with the stock numbers. i will be updating my "pics never hurt anyone" thread soon

It has a single turbo. The manifold has a custom flange and larger turbos cause clearance problems. The bolt pattern is unique requiring a custom manifold.

I believe the 1jz is only worth the price with a r154 transmission else a 2jz auto is a better buy.
