Angry Rim decided to fly off down the highway..

Yeah, so it was a good past 3 days for me..

On the way back from a road trip to Madison 2 days ago, my 19" Pirelli decides it is going to blow out and tear, not wrecking the M5 thank god..

So I put on the 15" rims that came with my car on the front, and the Supra rims on the back..

Today, going down the highway, 2 studs on the front driver side wheel decide that they are going to snap off and slam my car on the ground, destroying my brake rotor. In the process of this, the tire had to hit the fender, creasing that in..

The good news, is that no one got hurt, and the tire went flying into the ditch.

So then to top things off, I come home and my other car is dead, nothing, doesn't start. Jumped the battery, let it run, shut it off, doesn't start.

So yeah, it has been a good day...

that's harsh!

Hate to derail your thread, but are you into linux... hence the penguin?

If so, what build do you use?

I've got mandrake 8.2 right now...

running on my laptop, and server.

This is not the first time I have heard of snapped studs on the SC, normally the result of incorrect wheel tightening procedures which can induce lateral loads on the studs.

WOW!

Torque spec. for Lexus wheels 76 ft-lbs
Torque spec. for Corvette wheels 100 ft-lbs

Lexus front brake caliper bolts 86 ft-lbs (I think)
Corvette front brake caliper bolts 137 ft-lbs

Older vette 84-87 has 16" rims, 88-96 has 17 " rims. All wheels have the same overall diameter as the lexus OEM wheels. Brake calipers and rotors have about the same thickness and diameter too.

Yikes! My Lex is the same year as yours, so I'm glad for that warning about the studs. I'll make sure my mechanic does it right...
