Default SC300 faster certain years?

Hey guys i've owned 2 SC300's both with the same exact options.

The first was a 93 with 120k miles auto.

The current is a 96 with 160k miles auto

Basically my question is, my current car feels much faster than my older car felt. To be sure, I raced my friends IS300 and my other friends S2000. I'm pulling 3 cars on the IS300 above 100 and i'm actually hanging with my friends s2k instead of getting left in the dust even though he's made the s2k faster than it was when i raced it with the old car. The new car is running almost even until the SC300 shifts into 4th from a 40 roll. Anyone know if they gave the cars a boost in performance or anything? I'm pretty sure both of the cars lack vvt-i so it isnt that.

Most likely your 1996 has a healthier motor despite the higher mileage.

The 1996 is OBD-II based and has a more accurate hotwire type mass air flow sensor that is also less restrictive.
