Default Replace climate control LCD lights

Hey guys,

I tried searching and I've found no definitive results. My climate control's bulbs went out and I'm trying to replace them. The ones behind the LCD that have the blue rubber caps. I have some 5mm white wide angle LEDs that are lying around and was wondering if I could replace the bulbs with these. I saw a bunch of people do their mods, but none of them showed where to wire anything to. Any ideas?

just make sure you have 12V LED's which arent too common compared to 5V and less for LED's

but otherwise.. the normal bulbs i think are fine as the leds that small are fairly directional and dont spread out the light as evenly, but meh.

I believe these are 3.3 volt LEDs.. meaning I'd have to have a strong resistor, or maybe I could use two LEDs per one of those bulbs and use a less powerful resistor. Can any electrical guys chime in?

I just bought replacement bulbs instead of fiddling with LED's
if mine lasted 16 years, im sure new ones can last atleast another 5-10
Using resisters will just create more heat - probably not much but meh.

Where'd you get replacement bulbs from? I'd go that route, but I have a feeling that

1) This is cheaper and I already have the parts
2) It will look cleaner and more uniform with my interior.

I think you can get replacements on e-bay.

Perhaps even if you strikeout on ebay..
http://mysite.verizon.net/ls400lcd/
Email the person there and since his kits come with the bulbs.. you could ask for just the bulbs?
or buy a whole kit (lcd and bulbs) and sell the LCD to someone here who needs it..

Does anyone know the name of the bulbs? I find it interesting that all three would go out when I'm pretty sure they were all working before (I just bought this car recently so I honestly can't remember for sure). Also the bulbs below for the fan speed went out too. Could this be fuse related?

Default Some of the lines of the LCD readout are not visible

Hi Guys,

I've already had my 2002 SC430 twilight amethyst beauty for three months, and I couldn't be happier. I'd post a picture here, but I can't seem to figure out how to pull one from my hard drive.

About a month after I bought the car, some of the lines on the LCD readout for the MPG indicator and the thermometer were no longer visible. I have to guess whether the number is 0 or 8, for example.

I read as many threads as I could find concerning LCDs. I still don't understand... some posts were talking about bulbs and some were talking about the display. I may be a girl, but I know that liquid crystal diodes don't use bulbs to work!

I'm not about to try to fix anything myself, but could you help me understand what parts I need? I may need help with finding someone to fix it, if all Lexus wants to do is replace the whole assembly.

Thanks!
