Stuck gear shift

Hi everyone I'm new here I was hoping I could pick your collective brains. My gear shifter i stuck in P on my 93 sc 400. Doe anyone have any suggestions?

oh lordy.

get a flat head screw driver and put it in that little slit next to the shifter, sometimes they lock randomly.

Press the brake pedal first.
