If I understand correctly. This holds the gear in place along the track that your seat rides on. In my case only the right side will move.
Future SC. I have not pulled out my seat but I have been able to check the air duct (old french fry) and under seat pretty good. I'm trying avoid pulling the twice. Looking at my service history the seat complaint is from 2005.

It was good weekend. Located a SC300 with a wet, garbage filled ant infested interior and as luck would have it I was able to find a "white cap". Plan to pull my seat next weekend.
